Car Seat Policy

It is the law in Ontario that an appropriate car seat be provided for each child.

Simcoe County Airport Service DOES NOT HAVE CAR SEATS FOR CHILDREN

The passenger is responsible for providing the appropriate car seat for each child that is travelling with them.

Rear-facing infant car seats are required for infants weighing up to 9kg (20 lbs) or less.

Forward-facing car seats are required for children weighing between 9 kg and 18 kg (20 lbs to 40 lbs).

Booster seats are required for children under the age of eight, weighing more than 18 kg (40 lbs) but less than 36 kg (80 lbs) and who stand less than 145 cm (4 feet 9 inches tall).

A child can start using a seat belt alone once any of the following criteria are met:

  • child turns eight years old
  • child weighs 36 kg (80 lbs)
  • child is 145 cm (4 feet 9 inches) tall.

If you have a return reservation with Simcoe County Airport Service, we offer storage of the car seat(s) at no charge and will bring it back to the airport for your arrival.

If you have a "to the airport" reservation with no return reservation, then we will store the car seat at our office for up to one (1) month for pick up by the passenger or their representative.

If you are arriving at the airport first, someone will have to bring an appropriate car seat(s) to our office the day prior to arrival so that we can have it at the airport for the child when he/she arrives. All seats must be labelled with the name, address, phone number and flight details. Car seats can be brought to the Simcoe County Airport Service office (7 days a week) between 7:00 am – 9:00 pm.
